Deer Valley Unified School District is governed by a five-member board of trustees elected by popular vote to alternating four-year terms. The DVUSD governing board consists of a president, a vice-president and three members. The president and vice-president are elected in January by fellow members and serve in that capacity for one year. Board members must reside in the Deer Valley District.

Operating within the laws of the state legislature, and the rules and regulations of the state Board of Education, the board sets policy for the management of the district. The superintendent and district staff are responsible for the execution of these policies.

The next scheduled Governing Board meeting is Tuesday, February 17, 2026.  Start time 7:00 p.m. and doors open to the public by 5:15 p.m.  Meeting agenda will be posted on the DVUSD website Governing Board page prior to the meeting date.Prior to the Regular meeting , there will be a Special Meeting of the Governing Board Tuesday, February 17, 2026.  Start time 5:30 p.m. and doors open to the public by 5:15 p.m.  This will be a Work Session for the Board to discuss Long Range Planning regarding DVUSD school boundaries.  There will be no public comments during the Work Session per policy.There will be NO Awards & Recognition segment on this meeting date.Members of the community are welcome to speak during Call to the Public segment of the Regular Governing Board Meeting or at a specific agenda item if requested in advance. Anyone who wishes to speak must submit a Public Comment request form and submit to the Governing Board Secretary before the start of the Board meeting at 7:00 p.m. [ Comment request forms are located in the boardroom lobby upon entrance to the meeting. ] Public Comment requests will be accepted from all stakeholders waiting to enter but limited to a max of 3 minutes per comment or 30 minute overall limit total per Governing Policy BEDH.

All DVUSD Governing Board Meetings will be live streamed and available for viewing during or after the meeting on our new YouTube channel effective January 23, 2024, or on BoardDocs. Archives are arranged by YouTube playlists corresponding to the school year the meeting was held, and date back to February 2016. The Board reserves the right to change the order of items on the Agenda, with the exception of Public Hearings. The Board may take action in open meeting on any item that was the subject of the Executive Session held at this Board Meeting. The Board may vote to convene an Executive Session pursuant to A.R.S. 38-431.03(A)(3) for discussion or consultation for legal advice with the Governing Board’s attorney on any items listed on the Agenda. One or more Governing Board members and/or the Governing Board’s attorney may participate by telephonic, video or internet conferencing.
