Dr. Karen Pack is a DVUSD alum and parent who has lived in the district for over 50 years. She has been an educator for almost 25 years and holds a doctorate in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis on Special Education. In addition, she has been active in the community in various ways, including as a lifetime blood donor, Blood Drive coordinator, Block Watch Captain, Girl Scout Leader, Boy Scout parent, PTSA president, and Sunday School teacher.  Dr. Pack is a servant leader who cares about kids and the community.

Dr. Pack believes that teachers must be supported, appreciated, and fairly compensated and that parents must be acknowledged, valued, and heard. She also believes that we need policies and procedures in place that ensure the safety of the students and the teachers who teach them. Dr. Pack wants to ensure fiscal responsibility in the district, with mindful spending of taxpayers' dollars directly benefiting students and teachers. She believes smaller class sizes would allow for the most effective academic instruction, raise test scores, and reduce bullying. With one in five students likely to have dyslexia, Dr. Pack states that teachers must be specifically trained in systematic and explicit phonics instruction to deliver strong Tier 1 classroom lessons and solid Tier 2 and 3 interventions, and that stronger readers equal higher test scores and more successful learners.

Dr. Karen Pack will put children first and work professionally with families, educators, and district personnel. She will listen to all stakeholders' concerns and conduct the necessary research to make informed decisions. Dr. Pack wants to foster a collaborative working environment and believes the governing board can achieve great things if everyone works together.
