A Commitment to the Community

Ann E

DVUSD knows how much of an impact a positive school environment leads to a positive surrounding community. Students who succeed in school help lift the neighborhood they live in, and successful graduates improve the quality of the communities they live and work in. The ultimate commitment to the community is seen in our vision statement of graduating lifelong learners who will successfully compete, lead, and positively impact the world.

DVUSD also knows that community engagement goes beyond the ripple effect of a positive education experience. Community engagement is an ongoing commitment to the community our schools are located in as well as the families that live in those communities. Public service is not merely just a box to be checked in our district-- it is something we take very seriously as we look to improve and engage with the neighborhoods inside our district borders.

Veterans Day

Community engagement takes on many forms: from encouraging community members to volunteer at our schools, to Veterans Day ceremonies, to partnering with local charities to expand DVUSD's Giving Closet locations that serve DVUSD families in need. DVUSD is involved in numerous activities that help our students and families, as well as involve student and family participation in the name of helping or honoring others.

Business meeting

DVUSD engages with our business community as well, making matches between businesses looking to help their community and nearby schools with DVUSD school seeking assistance. DVUSD's Business & Community Partners meet several times a year at the district office to continue to deepen the relationships between local businesses and our schools.

Ridge cheer

Lastly, community engagement is also internal, as DVUSD strives to offer positive role models in our high schools for our K-8 students. Throughout the year, feeder school activities bring high school students in athletics and arts together with K-8 students in similar programs. These fun interactions help younger students set their goals on a higher level as they not only achieve extraordinary outcomes at a young age, but continue to pursue excellence in high school and beyond.
