• Welcome to Mrs. Kerich's Class!

Welcome to the 22/23 school year. I know that this will be unlike any year we have had before. I want to let you know that we are all in this together and together we are going to make it a GREAT year!

     Special Education/Student Support Services

I commit myself to helping all students maximize their academic achievement, acquire appropriate life skills, and develop awareness of their personal characteristics in order to increase their life opportunities as they move toward responsible citizenship.

I work with students, their families, school personnel, and the community to provide a comprehensive service model that revolves around students' academic, emotional, interpersonal, and transitional development.  I will resolve to evaluate and adapt my classes to meet the unique needs of our students and to ensure student growth.

I seek to provide students with disabilities with access to a quality education within the most inclusive setting possible. In accordance with Federal and State regulations for children with disabilities, Sonoran Foothills School offers a variety of programs for students who are determined to be eligible for special education and related services. Educational programs are individualized to meet the needs of each student and students receive services within a least restrictive environment, which allows them maximum participation in regular education programs. Our special education programs seek to provide students with opportunities to achieve academic excellence.

     Read 180 Intervention

As a Tier 3 intervention, I will be using Read 180 Universal. If your child is placed in the class, I will contact you directly. With its blended learning approach, READ 180 gives everyone in the classroom the unique tools they need to thrive anytime, anywhere. I will customize the learning experience using informative assessments and a flexible rotation model that combines traditional and online instruction. Students will have the following opportunities in the program.
    Whole-Group Learning

Students and teachers engage as a class and reinforce daily lessons together.

    Student Application

Students work independently, following a personalized path that accelerates their learning.

    Small-Group Learning

Students receive targeted, data-driven instruction while building meaningful relationships with teachers.

    Independent Reading

Students engage with their choice of content and apply newly acquired vocabulary and comprehension skills.
