    September 2018

    Greetings Arrowhead Families,

Welcome to the 2018-19 school year!   We are so proud of the improvements that have occured so far with our Modernization project and look forward to its’ completion in February.  I want to give heartfelt thanks for all of your support as we opened our doors in August in the midst of construction that was still in progress.  It is amazing what can be accomplished when our community and staff work together to make the most of challenging situations.  The next step is remodeling building 700 which will be transformed into a new center for our art and music programs.  In many ways we will have a brand new school when this is all said and done.

Thanks to all of our parents were able to attend the Annual Title 1 Meeting in August.  For anyone who could not make it, please check out our website under Our School, Title 1 to check out the Title 1 documents discussed at the meeting.  Hopefully you have received a copy of the Parent Compact to be signed for our Title 1 files.  The only difference in the document this year is the addition of a plea for your involvement with activities at school.  We are asking if at all possible each parent volunteer to support two events throughout the school year.  Research shows students thrive when they know their parents support their school.  Please check out our PTSA to find many ways to get plugged in!

As many of you know, we have Kick-Off Monday Assemblies every week that set the tone of excitement for learning and highlight the All Things EQ concept we will be studying for the week.  When the 8:40 bell rings, teachers walk their class to the courtyard outside of my office.  Please join us any time to get in on the fun.  We will alter the schedule slightly because of the Labor Day holiday, which means this time only we will have the assembly on Tuesday, September 4th.   I would like to extend a special invitation to join me for Conversations with the Principal  in the library at 9:00 a.m. when the assembly concludes.  This is my opportunity to share exciting happenings on campus and discuss how we can work together to provide the best education possible for your child.  We generally will have Conversations with Principal on the first Monday of the month.  Please put these dates on your calendar:  9/4, 10/1, 11/5, 12/3, skip January, 2/4, 3/4, 4/1, and 5/6.   Hope to see you there!

Our school motto is Be Kind, Be Safe, and Be Responsible, so I will end my letters with that saying.  Arrowhead is an exciting place to be this year.  As always thanks for your support!

Be Kind, Be Safe, and Be Responsible.

The Barry Goldwater High School Drama Club presented an excerpt from their Adam's Family production for our 3rd and 4th graders.  Amazing talent and they have planted the seed for dozens of future thespians.
