Wellness Policy Committee Chairperson: Nona Dasenbrock
Purpose of committee:
To review and amend current the Wellness Policy (Board Policy JL and Regulation JL-RA) as directed by guidelines and regulations put forth by the USDA and recommendations put forth by the Arizona Department of Education and the Arizona School Boards Association. To establish AMGs to provide detailed guidance regarding specific areas of the Wellness Policy including but not limited to Wellness Policy implementation, monitoring, accountability and community engagement; nutrition (school meals, water, celebrations and rewards, fundraising, nutrition education, nutrition promotion, food and beverage marketing); physical activity (physical education, health education, recess, brain energizers, active academics, before and after school activities, active transport); and other activities that promote student wellness (community partnerships, community health promotion and engagement, staff wellness and health promotion, professional learning, school gardens).
