    DVUSD Families,

We hope that you and your child have had an opportunity to engage in some of the home learning opportunities. Today’s posting contains important updates on the following topics - Device Pickup, Wi-Fi Assistance, Low Tech/No Tech Options for Parents with No Online Access, and Home Learning for April 6-9.

As a reminder, we are updating the website www.dvusd.org/COVID19 every day by 4 pm. Today, we are sending a text and email as well. Parents of DVUSD high school students should expect an update on various topics specific to high school by the end of the week.

    Device Pickup: April 2 & 3
Thank you for completing the Technology Device survey. Your input has been key in planning for the distribution of equipment to our families who do not have technology devices.

For families without internet-enabled devices for their Kindergarten through 8th grade students, devices will be available to borrow for the duration of the school year. In order to ensure we have enough devices for all of the families in need, each family will be limited to one device at this time.

High school students will use their school-issued iPads. For high school students needing a device, please contact your high school campus to arrange an appointment to pick up an iPad. Refer to your school's web page for specific instructions about iPad pick up procedures.

Device distribution will take place on Thursday, April 2 and Friday, April 3. Procedures for maintaining social distancing guidelines will be implemented. Please see below for times and the location of distribution for each school.

The parent or legal guardian must present a photo ID and provide the 6-digit student ID# for one of their children. Devices will be handed to the parent/guardian through their car window. Device distribution will be by drive-up service only.

    Please Note:

    • Multiple siblings can share a single electronic device.
    • Students can use any internet-enabled device such as a home computer or tablet, PlayStation 4 and Xbox to connect to web browsers.
    • DVUSD's Information Services & Technology Department will not be able to help set up or troubleshoot Wi-Fi. Families need to contact their internet service provider for help with the Wi-Fi connection.
    • For device issues, parents/guardians can submit a help request ticket to https://url.dvusd.org/HomeTechHelp

    Wi-Fi Assistance
For families needing support with obtaining Wi-Fi access, several local providers have programs to support this need.

    Cox
Cox Hotspot Network is open to the public. Here is a map of  Hotspots https://www.cox.com/residential/internet/learn/cox-hotspots.html  in your area. Cox is offering two free months to Connect2Compete (C2C) eligible students. C2C does not have a contract nor installation charge.

    Comcast
Comcast offers free internet to those who qualify during the COVID-19 pandemic. See announcement (https://www.internetessentials.com/covid19).

CenturyLink - Will waive late fees and will not terminate a residential or small business customer’s service for the next 60 days due to financial circumstances associated with COVID-19. See CenturyLink Pledge (https://news.centurylink.com/fccpledge).

As other Wi-Fi options and hotspots become available, information will be included in the district COVID-19 Updates.

Low Technology/No Technology Review Packet Information: April 6 Pick Up

To be clear, paper copies will be in limited supply and are not an option for families that have a device with internet accessibility.  Distribution will occur Monday, April 6, at your home school, between 10am-12pm.
