Hi friends, I'm so glad to be at Las Brisas Elementary School! This is my third year in the Deer Valley School District! I moved to Phoenix in May 2017 and am loving all the sunshine. My professional background includes teaching first and third grade in a public school district, serving as Children's Ministry director at several churches, and home educating my children for 11 years. I have four amazing children, and together we enjoy traveling, camping, canoeing, hiking, playing games, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers. I really love working with children, and I am so glad to have your child in my class! Please feel free to contact me with any questions, thoughts, or insights you may have to share.

  • What is your favorite thing about teaching?

    Posted by:

My favorite thing about teaching is seeing kids get excited about learning! As a life long learner myself, it's a privoledge to guide them in their observations and build connections to help them with their future learning. Plus, the kids are always so fun and make me laugh. A lot.

  • What is your favorite children's book?

    Posted by:

It's so hard to choose! My favorite picture book is Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McClosky because of how sweet and funny the story is and how detailed the illustrations are. As for chapter books, I love Mr. Poppers Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater. The penguins are always getting into trouble, and it reminds me of my children when they were young and students. Besides, kids think it's histerical!

  • Why did you pick camping to be the theme of your classroom?

    Posted by:

I've been camping ever since I was an infant and have always loved the outdoors. I think nature is the best learning environment for children, and there's so many applications and connections we can make to nature in the classroom. Plus, it appeals to both boys and girls and is something all learners can engage with.

  • What is your favorite place you've traveled to?

    Posted by:

The artist Claude Monet's house in Giverney, France. It's where he lived and painted the famous Water Lilies paintings! It's prettier than the paintings.
