Return to Headlines

Dear Mountain Shadows Parents/Guardians,

It amazes me that 2016 is coming to a quick close and we are now heading into 2017.  I am so proud of our student’s hard work and dedication to learning.  As we close out the first half of this school year, I reflect upon our great accomplishments:  Year 2 of the Leader in Me initiative, 16 families completed the 7 Habits Family class, numerous family mission statements, Student Lighthouse Team, Parent Engagement Passport, and successful student-led events including Parent/Teacher Conferences, Veteran’s Day Ceremony/Career Day, Leader in Me Information Night, and Jammie Jam. Moving forward, we will continue to empower our students through action teams, leadership opportunities and instilling the paradigm that “Everyone Can Be A Leader”!

Heading into the new year, we have many events ahead of us.  On January 19th, we will celebrate our students’ successes with our 2nd quarter Awards Assembly.  Please check the calendar for your child’s time.  I also encourage you to join me for Coffee & Conversation on Friday, January 27th at 8:15am.  This is your time to ask questions, share good news, or just come to enjoy some snacks and hear about the great things happening at Mountain Shadows.

Once again, we will hold our annual Camping with the Coyotes Kindergarten “Sneak Peek” night on Thursday, January 26th from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.  This event is for all future Kindergarten students to come and meet the teachers.  You may even see our mascot “Howler” there.  Please spread the word.  We’d love to show you what great things are happening here!

As a Safe School campus, it is important that we continue to improve our procedures for the safety of our students.  Please model good examples such as using the crosswalks and waiting patiently for cars to flow through the pick-up line.  We also ask that you pull all the way forward in the drive-through line to alleviate traffic in the driveway both before and after school.  We appreciate your support in keeping all of our students safe.

As 2016 closes out, I wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season.  Make every day a great day!  Thank you for sharing your child with us!

Educationally yours,

Janet Gilbert
