PTSA NEWS

Our Fun Run on Friday was a huge success!! Thank you so much for your support; we could not have
done it without you! PTSA is calculating totals and the first of next week they will be awarding prizes.
SCHOOL BOUNDARY INITATIVE MEETING
Today DVUSD will be holding School Boundary Initiative Meetings at all of our high schools from 6 to 7
PM. Those locations: Boulder Creek High School (Auditorium), Barry Goldwater High School (Performing
Arts Center), Deer Valley High School (Auditorium), Mountain Ridge High School (Auditorium), and
Sandra Day O’Connor High School (Performing Arts Center).
THANKSGIVING FEAST

Our Coyote Café will serving a traditional Thanksgiving Feast and you are invited! Thursday, November
21 during all lunches we will be serving: fresh sliced roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy,
steamed green beans, fresh dinner roll, craisins, and pumpkin pie with whipped topping and a drink.
YUM! Adult lunch is $3.75 and child’s lunch is $2.80. Please be sure to sign in the office while on
campus.

FRIDAY PLC 2 PM RELEASE DAY
This Friday, November 22 is a PLC 2:00 PM Release Day. School releases at 2 PM. It is also Lighthouse
Spirit Day and Career Day. Students can wear their spirit wear or dress up as what they would like to be
when they grow up! For example, they can dress up as a doctor, nurse, ballerina, teacher, scientist,
astronaut; the list is endless! The class with the highest participation will win the Spirt Stick for the
month!

NO SCHOOL
Thanksgiving Break is next week and there is no school Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday November 27-
29.

OPEN ENROLLMENT
Open Enrollment is now underway for the next school year. Through Open Enrollment, your child has
the opportunity to attend any school of their choice, if capacity permits. Apply by December 11 for
priority consideration.

TAX CREDIT DONATIONS
Your school tax credit donations can provide Mountain Shadows students with opportunities to after
school and summer programs, field trips, or any other extracurricular activity.The Arizona tax credit program (A.R.S. 43-1089.01) allows a tax credit of up to $200 for individuals and
up to $400 for married couples, filing jointly, in support of extracurricular activities.
K-6, K-8 and Middle Schools: Tax credits can be submitted online by clicking here.  The tax credit reduces your tax burden to the state of Arizona, dollar for dollar. It also reduces your taxable income to the federal government, usually by 1/3 of your donation.
In order to take advantage of the tax credit donation for the 2018 tax year, you must make your
donation by April 15, 2019.

December 23 – January 3 NO SCHOOL WINTER BREAK
January 6 – Back to School
January 10 – Report Cards Go Home
