If you have any questions about testing, please contact your student’s guidance counselor.

March 13, 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As we approach the end of the year we have many fun activities planned for the 8th graders. On May 12, 2017, there will be a promotion dance. In addition, on May 22, 2017, we will be having an 8th Grade Promotion Fun Day. In order to ensure that we have a safe and enjoyable time, we are letting you know that if your child receives a referral after March 27, 2017 that results in a suspension, he/she may not be able to attend the dance or participate in the fun day activities. Additionally, this form must be signed and returned to your student’s fourth period teacher by Friday, March 17, 2017 in order to be eligible for the aforementioned activities.

Thank you for partnering together with us to help our students make wise choices that lead to a strong and successful finish to their 8th grade year. Thank you for your support!

Promotion Information

We are looking forward to celebrating your child’s academic success and promotion to high school with you!  Our promotion ceremony will be held at the Mountain Ridge High School football stadium on Tuesday, May 23rd at 7:00pm.  Please keep in mind this is an activity that honors the promotion of our eighth graders to their next level of education and is not intended to be a formal affair.  Please do not go to undue expense.  The numbers of guests are not limited as there is ample seating and tickets are not issued.

Students must meet the grade requirements in all classes and maintain positive behavior in order to participate in the promotion ceremony.  Students who may be academically ineligible to participate in the ceremony are being monitored through the Counseling Office and letters have been mailed home.  If a student has excessive referrals, he/she may be unable to participate in the promotion ceremony.  This will be decided on a case by case basis by school administration.  Non-participating students will be notified prior to the ceremony.

Students who do not follow the dress code will not be allowed to participate in the promotion ceremony.  The guidelines for promotion attire are as follows:

Dresses, skirts and blouses, or pants outfits

·        Skirt length to be respectable, no mini, no floor length formals.

·        No backless, strapless, or spaghetti strap dresses or blouses.

·        Undergarments may not be exposed.

·        Please avoid high heels for safety reasons.

·        No shorts, no casual t-shirts, no hats.

Dress slacks or dress jeans, dress shirts.

·        Suits/sport jackets are optional.  No tuxedos.

·        No shorts, no casual t-shirts, no hats.

Please contact our office if you have any questions.  We are proud of each of our eighth grade Falcons and are delighted to share in this memorable evening with you.
