Important Information for Hillcrest Families

Falcon families…. Whew it is a crazy time that we are in right now,

I hope that you and your family are staying healthy. I wanted to touch base and let you know that we miss our students very much. Some of you have already reached out with questions about the future of the school year and what this online learning will look like. Fortunately all of our students have had some experience with using the Canvas learning management system through their Science classes and some of our other subject areas have used it from time to time over the school year. Even though your student might be more accustomed to navigating learning online, it will be a challenging and a learning experience for all teachers. There will be mistakes, problems and many questions along the way. We understand that some of you are still working, and that there are financial and health concerns in families. Our Falcon teachers and staff are here to support our students and families through this challenging time. Please do not stress over the school work via online learning. Frustrations in general are high, and we don't want to increase the stress in our families. Our goal is to provide online learning for our students to keep their brains moving forward. If you or your student have questions about any assignments please make sure that they communicate to their teacher. The teachers appreciate your flexibility and patience while we all transition to something that we never thought we would have to do at the beginning of the school year.

The district is sharing information with families through the district website which you can view at this address:

The district is asking families to fill out a survey regarding technology access at home. Please take this survey ASAP (latest March 27th).

Tuesday March 31st will be a day for parents to pick up student "essential" belongings. I will share more information about our plan and process for this once I receive additional information.

Breakfast and lunch are being provided to any child 18 years or younger at various schools/community sites from 11-1pm daily. Visit this site to find a location near you.

Starting on March 30th the district will be posting extended and enrichment learning opportunities for families to engage in with their children. On March 30th you can view these activities at this address:

The Week of March 30th our Falcon teachers will be receiving professional development on best practices with online learning. This includes, but is not limited to, navigating the online learning platform of Canvas, creating online learning activities, grading procedures and recorded lessons. Starting on April 6th our Falcon Teachers will be providing the online learning to our students for all of their classes. It is my goal to provide you with information that is correct the first time. Please continue to stay flexible and patient with us as we work through this challenging time where guidance from the federal and state governments change daily.

You have my promise that once I receive new processes and procedures that I will reach back out and share this information.

Please take care of yourself and please tell your students that we miss them very much.

Thanks and GO FALCONS!!
