Open Education Resources Math Adoption

Open Educational Resources July 2, 2018
Dear Open Education Resource Provider:
Deer Valley Unified School District will be adopting Open Education Resources for 6th-8th grade math. Alignment of our curriculum with the Arizona State Math Standards should be an integral part of the resources. We are looking for resources that specifically provide students with learning experiences that align with the 8 Math Practices, emphasizing problem solving, communication, representation, connections, reasoning and proof; these are proven effective through a sound research base. The materials must also address the diverse needs of all students, including ELLs, special education students, and gifted students.
The Deer Valley Unified School District will adopt OER mathematics materials that focus on all students successfully learning mathematics concepts and developing computational fluency, to ensure they are prepared for future high school mathematics courses. The program must include student materials, assessments, teacher manuals, and on-going teacher professional development and/or support to enable a broad range of teachers to succeed with a wide spectrum of students. Materials that embed inquiry based problem solving, designed to encourage rich student discourse will be considered during this adoption process.
The adoption process will begin August 1, 2018 and conclude November 27, 2018. If you have any information that you would like to share with the adoption committee, beyond what is provided on your website, please send it via the contact information below, on or before July 30, 2018.
