Congratulations to the Latest DVUSD Governing Board Honorees!

We begin tonight by highlighting the remaining 15 students throughout the district who earned the highest scale scores on the 2023-2024 Arizona's Academic Standards Assessment in two content areas - including a combination of English Language Arts, Math, or Science. 


For the 2023-2024 school year, DVUSD students performed at a rate 17% higher than the statewide average on the A-A-S-A English Language Arts assessment, and 18% higher than the state average on the Math assessment! A total of 476 students from across Deer Valley earned the best possible score on their English Language Arts, Math, or Science assessment! Throughout the district there were 36 students who scored the highest possible scale score on two of the assessments including one student, who scored the highest possible score on ALL THREE assessments!  

Tonight, we had students representing our Barry Goldwater, Deer Valley, Mountain Ridge and Sandra Day O’Connor High School regions.

Representing Desert Sky Middle School, congratulations to Jonas Hooper, for his highest scale score in Math and ELA!

There are four students from Highland Lakes School who earned top scale scores in ELA and Math:

With the highest possible scores on English Language Arts and Math, from Norterra Canyon School: Lydia Leykam!

Next are two students from Sonoran Foothills School. Earning the highest possible scores in ELA and Math: congratulations, Janelle Barroso! And with the highest scale score in Math and Science, also from Sonoran Foothills School, Ryan Espiau!  

There are four students who earned the highest scale score in Math and ELA representing Stetson Hills School:

From Sunrise Elementary School with the highest possible scale score in ELA and Math, Congratulations, Isaac Barringer! 

And finally, Terramar Academy of the Arts had two students earn the highest scale score on their Math and ELA as well as the Math and Science assessments respectively! With the highest scale score in Math and ELA is Thomas Dykman! And with the Highest Scale score in Math and Science, Congratulations, Joshua Stansel! 


It would be quite the challenge to perform as well as our students do on their standardized tests if we didn’t have such #extraordinary, dedicated teachers throughout DVUSD! We honored13 teachers whose students saw the highest median growth percentile in their specific subject and in their grade level throughout the entire district for the 2023-24 school year. These teachers represent students who take state assessments including 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 11th grades in the content areas of Math and English Language Arts.

Congratulations, to 7th Grade’s Highest Median Growth Percentile Teacher for ELA in DVUSD, Martin Donovan! 

Congratulations, to 8th Grade’s Highest Median Growth Percentile Teacher for ELA in DVUSD, Sarah Crabtree! 

Congratulations, to 11th Grade’s Highest Median Growth Percentile Teacher for ELA in DVUSD, Holly Maxwell! 

 

And now on to our Math Teachers throughout the district whose students earned the highest median growth percentile.
