New River Elementary's K-8 proficiency points, one of eight state grading factors, ranked in the top 25% of all state traditional K-8 public schools, while the school's 87.24 total percentage points earned ranked in the the state's top 20% of all state traditional K-8 schools.
At New River, students participate in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) activities throughout the school year. Each month, the STEM focus shifts so that students can develop skills in science, technology, engineering, and math. The school also features and ecology club, raising awareness and educating students and staff about sustainability issues.
In addition to leading New River Elementary's turnaround, Marone also plays an active leadership role in the district's Professional Learning Communities (PLC), which helps teachers learn how to effectively facilitate collaborative teams and build PLC capacity on their campuses.
