BCHS Principal's Communication- Updated 4/1/2021 re: State Testing
April 1, 2021
Good evening BCHS families,
Happy April 1st! The year is moving fast, and it is now time to begin state testing next week for our sophomore and junior students. There will be no bell schedule adjustments because we are currently on the block schedule this school year.
For Sophomores: On Monday & Tuesday, April 5th & 6th, sophomore students will begin the AZM2 state exams. During their Language Arts class, students will complete the writing test. The following Monday and Tuesday, April 12 & 13, all sophomore students will complete Part 1 of the Reading and Math state assessments. Sophomores will finish the reading and math exam on April 19th & 20th.
Sophomore students who score Proficient or Highly Proficient may be eligible to raise their course grades in ELA 1-2, ELA 3-4, Algebra 1-2, and/or Geometry. Students who earn a Proficient score on the AzM2 ELA or Math assessment will be eligible to raise their final semester grade(s) by one letter grade up to a B for the courses aligned with the assessment. Students who earn a Highly Proficient score on the AzM2 ELA or Math assessment will be eligible to raise their final semester grade(s) by one letter grade up to an A for the courses aligned with the assessment.
For Juniors: On Wednesday, April 7th & 8th, junior students will begin the AzSCI science state exam. During their science class, students will complete the first part of the assessment. The following Wednesday and Thursday, April 14 & 15, all junior students will complete Part 2 of the Science state assessments.
For all test takers: All state assessments are computer-based. Students must bring their iPad and charging cord to school on the testing days. Students also need to bring a pair of headphones or earphones (wired, not Bluetooth) to use during testing.
All state assessments must be administered in person. Students who are learning at home via Zoom must take the test on campus. Zoom learners testing on campus may leave after ALL students finish their test; however, we prefer they remain on campus. If Zoom learners testing on campus choose to leave after their class, they must sign out at the front desk and a parent must pick them up. We will let their next hour teacher know the student will be late to the zoom class.
As a reminder, state testing is an opportunity for our students to demonstrate their skills and knowledge. The information from testing will help us plan supports, opportunities, and learning for the 2021-22 school year. Please encourage your students to do their best as they show what they know in the coming weeks.
Have a wonderful long weekend!

February 2021 Senior Meeting Information
Good afternoon BCHS Senior Families,
This past week our seniors watched a video presentation on information regarding the BCHS Class of 2021 graduation ceremony. While not every detail is in stone, we are absolutely planning on a ceremony to honor our graduating class at State Farm Stadium in May. As we get closer, we will continue to send out information to both our seniors and our families.
It is important this time of year to remember to keep an eye on the prize. Keeping up grades to ensure that credits are earned for graduation is critical. It is also critical to follow expected BCHS and DVUSD conduct expectations. I am including this letter to clarify expectations so that we can celebrate with all of our seniors in May: BCHS Senior Conduct Letter
Additionally, there is information below on the graduation countdown calendar and speech/song audition information:

The final high school semester is such an important time for both finishing strong and starting a new journey. We are so proud of our class of 2021 and how they have risen to the challenges this year has presented while demonstrating excellence, pride, and perseverance! I cannot wait to celebrate in May!
Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a beautiful weekend!
