BCHS Principal's Communication- Sad News 9/9/24

September 9, 2024

Dear Boulder Creek Parents and Guardians,

I am deeply sorry to inform you of the death of one of our esteemed teachers.  We were saddened to learn that Mrs. Jacquelyn Parmeley passed away early Sunday morning after a long battle with cancer.   Mrs. Parmeley was a dedicated educator, department coordinator, former school administrator, wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Parmeley has made a lasting positive impact on so many lives.  She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to her family and friends.

Counseling and staff informed the students that had Mrs. Parmeley this school year, and they were there to support them.   We also know that Mrs. Parmeley’s reach was far and other students and our community may be grieving her loss.  Students can be deeply affected by the loss of a teacher, and we want you to know that counselors are available any school day to provide support to both students and staff. We also know that everyone processes grief differently and at different times.

During this time, your student may be feeling confused and have many questions. It is important to listen and discuss their concerns with them.  I have also included some resources below should they be helpful for your student.

Teen Lifeline - 602-248-8336 - 24 hours/day service and texting with trained peer counselors available from 3-9 pm daily.

Crisis hotline - 988 - Call or text 24 hours/day

Mobile crisis team - 602-222-9444 Call 24 hours/day

Our school community is deeply saddened by this loss. We feel fortunate to belong to the Boulder Creek High School family, where we can support each other through difficult times. I thank you for your support, and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our school at 623-445-8600.

Sincerely,

Brittany Sutton
