  • Update: November 4th, 2022 - Start of Public Feedback

Public Review Feedback Open November 4th - January 2nd

The Public Review Feedback Goal is to assist in the review of selected committee material resources for adoption that supports teachers and students in their ability to meet or exceed grade level proficiency targets in Social Studies standards and prepare students for secondary and post-secondary opportunities.

Please look through the resources below and fill out the Public Review Feedback Form

There are two different resources - One for K-8 materials & One for HS & AP materials.

    • For McGraw Hill K-8 - There is a possibility for Inquiry Journal Notebooks, which will be a consumable resource.
    • For K-2 we will discuss purchasing in-person textbooks, but everything will come down to the cost of the adoption and already present technology.
      • Teacher Editions will also be looked at for a copy in the classroom, but will not have all the available materials shown online.

Timeline of Social Studies Resource Adoption

  • K-12 Social Studies Resource Adoption
DVUSD is in the process of adopting materials to support content standards, skills, and instructional practice for grades K-12 in Social Studies. Sept 1st, 2022 - Call for Committee Members

  • Updated: September 1, 2022

Public Application Form (included in the picture below)  Applications for District Committee participation remained open from September 1st, 2022 - September 21st, 2022, at 12pm for all stakeholders to apply if they were interested in participating on our adoption committee. This committee is charged with looking at all materials vendors have sent in, and reviewing them based on our curriculum guides and state standards to be the best instruction for our DVUSD students. These materials will be narrowed down to just those the committee feels meet their expectations and will acquire more information and vendor presentation before choosing their semifinalists. Once this part is completed, the semifinalist materials in all the different grade bands will be opened for public review. That feedback will be used to determine final recommendations to the board.

Due to the overwhelmingly positive response in committee applications, we conducted a name-picking lottery for the K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and HS grade bands. Videos are posted of this process on the right. Members selected and alternates will be notified on September 23rd, 2022, along with information to all who participated about when the materials will be open for public comments, so we can be sure to hear all voices in our community. Thank you so much to everyone who applied!

More information will be posted here about what the Committee is looking for with the standards and information on how to participate in the public review starting on November 4th, 2022 - January 2nd, 2023.
